Bio: I am the inaugural chair of the Paul Rubacha Department of Real Estate at Cornell University, which is a partnership between the SC Johnson College of Business and the College of Architecture, Art and Planning. Prior to Cornell, I was the Maxwell Advisory Board Professor of Economics at Syracuse University and a member of the University of British Columbia Commerce Department faculty. My research and teaching focus on the economics of urban real estate markets and cities, including housing and mortgage markets, commercial development, tax policy, spatial patterns of land use and value, and more. From 2007 through 2023 I served as co-managing editor of the Journal of Urban Economics. Other appointments include past president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association and member of the council for the Urban Economics Association.
